{"id":1690,"date":"2016-09-18T20:04:56","date_gmt":"2016-09-18T12:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/?p=1690"},"modified":"2016-10-06T15:39:46","modified_gmt":"2016-10-06T07:39:46","slug":"excited-you-betcha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/?p=1690","title":{"rendered":"Excited &#8211; you betcha!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WEEK THIRTY-SEVEN (september 12-18)<\/p>\n<p>For the first time I am posting before the week has ended&#8230; in a matter of hours I will be off and away for another dose of cold weather &#8211;\u00a0 this time in Mongolia.<\/p>\n<p>Excited &#8211; you betcha!<\/p>\n<p>This will be my fourth tour with Gabriella Verstraeten and the ease of traveling with her, and with a tour group made up mostly of bods I have travelled with before certainly helps. That, combined with packing, and unpacking, and repacking&#8230;. <em>for weeks.<\/em>.. should mean that I have the correct mix for all weathers and events&#8230;.hopefully!<\/p>\n<p>I have just been perusing a couple of books purchased during our memorable trip to Uzbekistan and Krygystan,which points to a certain shared aesthetic and history with Mongolia, though each country remains unique.<br \/>\nBecause of my much more considered pack and prep I am itching to get going.<br \/>\nCan&#8217;t wait to photograph and draw and meet the locals and generally absorb.<br \/>\nSo much so that for the last few days I have wanted to draw on those paint chips whilst reading excerpts from those textile books.<\/p>\n<p>The week has hurried by slowly&#8230;.or slowly hurried by?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_5168.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1696\" src=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_5168.jpg\" alt=\"aqua feathers complete\" width=\"2349\" height=\"3204\" srcset=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_5168.jpg 2349w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_5168-220x300.jpg 220w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_5168-768x1048.jpg 768w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_5168-751x1024.jpg 751w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_5168-600x818.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2349px) 100vw, 2349px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mid week I finished another paint chip board over the course of two days. Though as soon as it was complete I rotated it around to the left which suited me much better<br \/>\n<em>and<br \/>\n<\/em>I prepped two more ready to adhere.<br \/>\nThis prepping takes forever! Though just before the families arrived for Sunday dinner I had one adhered. To me this looks like being a very rewarding venture as those involved are both self directed and self motivated.<br \/>\nI channel their direction and help technically but basically we work together on little things that add up to make big steps.<br \/>\nYep, <em>rewarding.<\/em>&#8230; and they are only getting started.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from lightly reading textile books I have returned to a quick fiction reread that I also aimed to finish before getting to the airport.<br \/>\nI recently listened to a podcast &#8211; Richard Feidler talking to Jeannette Winterson and was reminded of how much I have enjoyed her writing.<br \/>\nOver the years I have filled the gaps in my knowledge of literature and writers\u00a0intermittently and one of the easy ways to do this was to trawl or race through &#8216;classic&#8217; selections.<\/p>\n<p>I was not aware of her books being auto biographical in nature which certainly does put a different spin on things. &#8216;Orange is not the only fruit&#8217; is an even better read second time round. I haven&#8217;t finished it so it is flying with me tonight.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll get to &#8216;Sexing the cherry&#8217; again on my return.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll go on from there in the next wee while&#8230;.
