{"id":1850,"date":"2016-11-07T16:38:57","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T08:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/?p=1850"},"modified":"2016-11-07T16:38:57","modified_gmt":"2016-11-07T08:38:57","slug":"to-under-think-and-to-over-think","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/?p=1850","title":{"rendered":"to under think and to over think"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WEEK FORTY-FOUR (october 31-november 6)<\/p>\n<p>If you read my blog regularly you will probably have the impression that I think&#8230;a lot.<br \/>\nEven more than that I over-think&#8230;.continuously.<br \/>\nWhat got me thinking about over-thinking, and my general manner of thinking, has been brewing for a while but the catalyst for this post, and my admission of <em>overthinking<\/em> guilt, happened on the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_4954.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1860\" src=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_4954.jpg\" alt=\"textiles in mongolia\" width=\"3888\" height=\"2592\" srcset=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_4954.jpg 3888w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_4954-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_4954-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_4954-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_4954-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 3888px) 100vw, 3888px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have been making artworks in fits and starts this year&#8230;this attempted art gig runs increasingly on the back burner after family, house, and work, <em>but<\/em> it takes up so much thinking time that it is almost a full time gig.<br \/>\nBacktrack to earlier this year&#8230;.<br \/>\nI was considering making and submitting work into OZQUILT&#8217;s AW5.<br \/>\nThis 40cm x40cm size and format doesn&#8217;t interest me. It is not my thing BUT I wanted to support OZQUILT. I had plenty of ideas, some attempts at veering into new territories, and then finally, as the deadline drew near I made and submitted two pieces.<br \/>\nOne I thought vastly superior than the other but the <em>(in my mind)<\/em> lesser work was selected. Whilst I was happy to have a work in the show <em>I did not want it to be that work.<br \/>\n<\/em>I now have two works whose format does not thrill me.<br \/>\nHad I not thought it through properly? I increasingly think so&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>I had also considered an exhibition at The Forest Centre Dwellingup.<br \/>\nIt was an open brief with no restrictions. There are at least four group shows that I could\/should enter. Most are art quilt exhibitions. I hesitated BIG TIME and came very close to not paying. Some of which you see in-dispersed here.
