Again and again.<br \/>\nI am making decisions incrementally, taking photos with my phone to check and recheck design and placement to be sure that I am producing what I really want.<br \/>\nConsiderations of construction, (tricky), and size, (rather large as small has little impact or relevance), both worry me.<\/p>\n<p>After a couple of days and nights returning to play with arrangements I finally have my decision.<\/p>\n<p>Backing\/holding materials are next and again it is very slow going.<br \/>\nI long to be making paint chip feathers and listening to &#8216;Conversations&#8217; on ABC radio.<br \/>\nI long to be working in a satisfying rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>I am in the indecisive stage.<br \/>\nI proceed slowly so that I can verify that the decisions made are the correct ones.<br \/>\nIndecision will suggest that I go and do something easier and more quickly gratifying \/satisfying <strong><em>while clearing my head<\/em><\/strong>.<br \/>\nChecking my inbox is the standard.<br \/>\nPutting on a load of washing or going for a walk also help.<br \/>\nIndecision is not to be confused with procrastination &#8211; it is not the same.<br \/>\nIndecision means I simply need time to filter my thoughts allowing the prominent, hopefully correct ideas to bubble up and become clear.<\/p>\n<p>Measurements in this piece are critical and I have to resort to graph paper to make sense of my design. I am pushing forward slowly and without pleasure.<br \/>\nIt takes all week, albeit a very disjointed, interrupted, indecisive week to get me set up for stitch.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend brings a change of pace.<br \/>\nWe head down south to our little house with a full car and a list of things to do &#8211; though when we get there we happily change plans.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday has us up the back of the block trying to reduce our piles of wood and branches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-934\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-934\" src=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"re-growing the stack\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-1-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-1-600x800.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Our pile of firewood needs a top up and\u00a0 our now dry branches and trimmings are easily broken into workable pieces. For all else there is the lovely JawSaw &#8211; a great, safe, <em>girly<\/em> version of a chain saw &#8211; though this gal didn&#8217;t manage to get a turn!<\/p>\n<p>Two piles are broken down and stacked.<br \/>\nOne pile of rubbish is removed to the verge for the annual hard rubbish collection.<br \/>\nThe trailer was filled with green waste that went to the tip &#8211; a lovely little adventure.<\/p>\n<p>Outside there are always the delights of nature to be appreciated.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-935\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-935\" src=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-2-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"feathers- given up\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-2-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-2-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-2-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-2-768x768.jpg 768w, http:\/\/janmullen.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/week-3-2-600x600.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Another dead bird joins my small collection.<br \/>\nMacabre to some, I know, but I simply see the beauty of feathers especially though the bones certainly hold appeal.<br \/>\nSome of my artwork at UNI was based on these themes &#8211; dead bird inspired sculptures, drawings on clay and drawing with pencil.<br \/>\nWho would have thought I would become a quilter with nary a dead bird to be seen!!!!<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll chase out photos of that work soon as it is fascinating to realize that I am not inventing new work themes, just reinventing.
